The second Friday of every month is Pagans' Night Out, starting at 7:30pm and usually lasting until about 10pm or so. You may be asking yourselves, “And just what the heck is that?”
In the simplest of terms, it is a Pagan friendly Potluck social. Sounds kind of dull….but wait! Pagans are not a dull people, so sure it’s a Potluck with covered dishes, but we can add so much to that mix. There has been drumming and chanting, belly dancing and hooping, music and singing, jokes and stories, and always, laughter. So if you have them, bring toys!
As for what to bring, we are an easy bunch, we’ll take anything. Soups, Casseroles, baked goods, cheesecake… Don’t feel that you need to cook anything either. We’ve had sacks of burgers, chicken fingers, and we even had Pizza delivered. We are particularly fond of chocolate.
I would recommend that if you are Vegetarian or Vegan, have food allergies or religious restrictions that you make sure you have yourself covered.
We try to have setup done by 7:30 pm, and that is just when PNO officially starts. There is no set time to be there. You can come and go as you please. Folks with kids tend to arrive and leave earlier, and those that prefer to avoid the junior members of society arrive later.
If you are new, I salute you for just walking through the gate. For some of us, finding the courage to join in is the scariest, most intimidating part. I am very shy. (Stop laughing…really, I am). My first event was spent sitting outside while my husband joined in. What a wimp I was. I had backup with me and still I wimped out. Luckily for me, everyone went out to breakfast afterward where I got to know some of the people there. I would have missed out on so much if I hadn’t met this group. If you just announce that you are new, and we will try to make you as comfortable as possible. Ask questions! We love questions. They make great conversation starters.
Just keep in mind that at some point, all the people laughing and talking together walked into the Gardens for the very first time, and didn’t know anyone. Everyone was a Newbie at one time. If you need an extra shot of courage, just email us at [masked]. Let us know you are coming and could use a friend.
To wrap up, PNO is like life. It is whatever you make of it. Let’s make it fun!
We could use some wood, a bag of play sand, and some torch fuel.
